I was getting all annoyed that a poster used this. But then found out that i was wrong, it isn't 'in the Styx' after all.
I shall have to climb off my high horse.

What image was in your mind when you thought someone was saying "I live out in the Styx"? Confused

Gone2far · 14/09/2019 11:05

...as in, beyond the River Styx. The one that the Greeks thought separated the living and the dead. So not too out IMO.

Thanks, for clarifying - I wasn't sure if you were referring to the mythical river or the nightclub in Glenrothes ( not joking about the latter -> www.novaloca.com/commercial-property-leisure/for-sale/glenrothes/glenrothes-snooker-centre-styx-nightclub-caskieb/103826 )

So, you thought people living out in the countryside were basically comparing their surroundings to Hades! Shock

having moved into the city from 20 years of rural life - yes
