It's bat FFS!

I don't like that there is an apostrophe missing from your link. It grates on me. Not your personal fault I know.

But, I take your original point and there are countless more of these sayings that have been bastardised.

I always thought it was back! I found out from Mumsnet last year so I say bat now.
