Why do people do this?

WHY do people write 'of' instead of 'if'? I have seen it on so many threads and I can hardly contain my irritation. I haven't heard people say it out loud, just in writing. It's so annoying! I am really confused by it!

My phone sometimes autocorrects to “of/if”, annoyingly.
I hate hate hate when people use the term “we was” instead of “we were”.
Or “should of” instead of “should have”.

And seeing “defiantly” instead of “definitely” makes me stabby

It's probably just a typo as the letters O and I are literally next to each other on the keyboard.

Autocorrect. Simple as.
