'An' v. lengthened 'A'

I've been watching a lot of Booktube videos just lately and have noticed that quite a few people making these videos no longer say 'an' before a word beginning with a vowel; they use a long 'a'.
Am I now the only person who says, for example, 'an elephant' rather than 'a' elephant?

Of course it’s an, what horror is this?!

Ewww.

What’s BookTube?

What’s BookTube?
Youtube videos made by people who post reviews about the (usually many, many) books they read.

Some of the booktubers who do this are aspiring writers or work in publishing and I was wondering if it was me that was out of step and being weirdly old-fashioned.

Bloody hell then, they must be shit at their job if they can't use 'an' appropriately. Grin

Oh dear.

I think I need to hear it.

That was my initial reaction but my default is always to assume that I'm wrong so I did start to question myself.

OK, I am reassured. Xmas Smile
