Electricity

Does everyone now use "electric" as a noun these days? I thought that this was an adverb (eg. electric cars) and that electricity was the correct word for the type of energy. If so, how do I stop feeling irritated when I hear or read this?

No, not everybody does, but lots of people do. It's not a recent thing though - it's been around for decades. Please share if you work out how to stop finding it irritating though.
