Is this ridiculous?

I have noticed lately, that the word ridiculous seems to have morphed into rediculous. Since it auto corrects to the correct spelling, why? It’s very annoying

I thought it was just that people couldn't spell!

Well, yes, but surely it comes up on their spell check.

I also assumed it was because people were spelling it wrongly.

It can't possibly be an alternative spelling. Try pronouncing it with an 'e', it's clearly wrong.

I suspect people just ignore their spell check.

It is often pronounced with a more 'eh' or even schwa sound, so people probably do think it is spelled that way. (Like people say "eksettra" instead of "et cettera", and therefore wright ect instead of etc.)
