Does "maypole" have a capital M?

There's a thing going round my Facebook about how important punctuation is

There's a Maypole dancer.
Theresa May, pole dancer.

I'm itching to say their example is not correct, but I'm not 100% Grin

I don't see why maypole needs a capital, unless we're talking about a pub of that name (I know of one).

I developed an interest in politics thanks to my parents, Tony Blair and Theresa May.

Example where an Oxford comma might help. Grin

That's it, I think the capital is unnecessary...but

I wouldn't capitalise maypole anymore than I would beanpole.

The word "maypole" is a common noun not a proper noun, therefore does not require a capital letter.
