Hyphens instead of em dashes

Sent a cover letter for a job today then realised I hadn't corrected the hyphens in three sentences to em dashes. This despite saying I have a "keen attention to detail". Sob.

Now, if I get an interview, do I refuse on the grounds their standards are too low? Grin

Grin love it.

Why would you use em dashes in UK English? They're only used in US English... Do you mean en rules?

Good luck with the job!

AdoraBell · 30/01/2017 23:03

Good luck.

I won't pretend to know what an em dash is

CommonFramework · 30/01/2017 23:13

They're those long dashes used to show interrupted speech in fiction, Adorabell..

Oops, op, just realised they do have one use in the uk!

AdoraBell · 30/01/2017 23:20

Ah, thank you Common

The only real use for the 'em' and 'en' printers measures is in Scrabble.

I'm sure they'll think you're the :- Wink
