"Concrete jungle where dreams are made of"

This is grammatically incorrect surely?

Should be either "where dream are made"

Or "which dreams are made of"

Drives me up the wall correct me if I am wrong though Grin

You're right, they're wrong Smile

AgadorSpartacus · 28/07/2016 14:15

I thought it was "concrete jungle where dreams are made, Oh" because the next line is "there's nothing you can't do"

Unless of course I've been singing it wrong all along (which wouldn't surprise me) Grin

OhtoblazeswithElvira · 28/07/2016 14:16

I thought it was poetic licence, conflating the 2 concepts Blush

Can I point out the typo on your opening post though? Can I? Can I? Grin or should I say "May I"?

Eminybob · 28/07/2016 14:19

It wouldn't be pedants corner without a typo in the op surely? Wink

I googled the lyrics, hoping it was oh as well, but it's definitely of.

Is it?

Bloody hell, well I'm really unimpressed then.

Mind you Take That's 'Babe' still annoys me even now.

"Where had you gone, was you gonna tell me in time?"

Was you?

Backingvocals · 28/07/2016 14:27

This is a pet hate of mine. I always thought Alicia Keys was classically trained and though obviously that's a music education I always assumed you'd have to have a certain level of education to go through that. And this is really such a mangled sentence ... Surprising.

Ooh, an excuse to post this m.youtube.com/watch?v=Eijc2tGe-zM

paddypants13 · 28/07/2016 14:36

I hate "If I knew you were coming I'd have baked a cake."

I have to turn the song off.

FloatyFlo · 28/07/2016 16:38

Kate Nash - Dickhead.

'Why you being a dickhead for?'

Er... surely you mean, 'What are you being a dickhead for'? Or 'Why are you being a dickhead?'.

I don't know why it bothers me so because it's a shit song anyway.

Eminybob · 28/07/2016 16:57

I know, there are loads of songs that don't make grammatical sense some just grate more than others.
I've had this Alicia keys one as an ear worm for days, hence it bugging me at the moment!

The song should say "Concrete jungle in which dreams are made".
The lyrics of this drive me mad.
