requestor or requester

I've been asked to spell/punctuation check an academic paper. They use requestor, I would never spell it like that. I googled and got many different opinions, some of which sounded ridiculous. What do you all think?

"requester" would be my preference - I think it's what I would have used, and I hear the alternative in my head spoken with an exaggerated American drawl: "requestORRR".

But if it's in a reputable dictionary and the writer uses one form consistently, I can't see that anyone can object that much.

That's exactly my opinion. The writer does use it consistently, and I think it might be the accepted form in her field (probably highly influenced by USA). I'll just draw her attention to it. Thanks for your reply.

I'm a copy editor and wouldn't even flag it if it's used consistently, as it's in the OED.

Thanks miss. I'm not a professional, so I'll take your advice.
