Hi,

Hope you can help me. I am trying to write the following sentence and having a blank moment! Can you please tell me which one is right.

It's taken years to get this far
Or
Its taken years to get this far

The first sentence is correct. You are saying "it has", so an apostrophe is required.

It's (because it's a contraction of 'it has').
