Mind slowly imploding over 'beyond'

Can someone please explain and use the word 'beyond' in a sentence.

It's a word which, if you can't replace it with "within" and still make sense, isn't being used properly. IMHO.

I'd say it's used as a synonym of 'further than'. In any sense, literal and figurative.
