Okay, there are a lot of thunderstorms local to me at the minute and Facebook is full of people writing about "lightening". Grrrrrr
Thunder and lightening! Lightening what? Your hair?
Some of these people are studying for masters degrees!!!

Yes masters degrees! I know it's more laziness because I'm on my phone!
I would probably be just as lazy on the computer in all fairness

I have never done links so apologies if it doesn't work - I just guessed!!

I think it's lightning because lightning is a noun but a lot of people will assume (without thinking) that it's a normal -ing word. Since there is no "lightne" word, it would make sense that it is lightening, but that's just a guess!

I recently worked on a catalogue of coloured inks that had featured 'Lightening Yellow' for years. I quietly changed it and felt happy. (Fixed the 'fuschia' too!)
