I can't write any more about it. I just feel aghast and perturbed that anyone would think this was the noun it should be. I've just seen it again tonight on mumsnet.

Chester draws

soontobeslendergirl · 15/04/2014 23:34

Drives me mental too, apparently I am unreasonable though and it's just the natural progression of language. Hmm

soontobeslendergirl · 15/04/2014 23:36

I was also told that it was accent related as in "other" accents, drawers and draws sound exactly the same....

ShoeWhore · 15/04/2014 23:37

Drives me utterly potty.

soontobeslendergirl · 15/04/2014 23:39

Dear god, there is fecking loads of them on ebay!!!! Shock

I saw this written (Winchester chest of draws) on a packing box on an item being sold in Homebase. I wrote an email to complain, and was further incensed to see an apostrophe error/spelling mistake (you're/your)on their website!

I got a generic apology

soontobeslendergirl · 15/04/2014 23:47

I'm sure I saw someone on a TV kitchen company advert say "draws" too.

Deux · 19/04/2014 10:02

This drives me mad too.

Try the reviews on somewhere like the Argos website. Painful.

Our local antique shop had 'Antique Chester Draws, Victorian, £560' on a swing tag.

UriGeller · 19/04/2014 10:05

I say "draws" but I wouldn't write it if I meant "drawers" fgs! Aagh!

Floggingmolly · 19/04/2014 10:05

How could that possibly be explained away as the natural progression of language???

Deux · 19/04/2014 11:08

I'm Scottish so always pronounce the -er sound.

I still haven't quite got to grips with 'car' only having 2 sounds.

Found myself ranting when DD came home with the phonetics for it . DD was bemused as I was ranting about where the 'r' was. I think there's a Proclaimers song there.

Me drawers fell down in shok

TinyTear · 23/04/2014 15:11

don't know whether to laugh or cry at Chester Draws

badtime · 30/05/2014 12:40

Aargh!

There is thread about tampons and people keep writing about the 'draw' they keep their sanitary items in!

(I am posting here so I do not post there)

tak1ngchances · 30/05/2014 12:43

I really really feel the pain and anguish here as I am Irish and pronounce both syllables in drawer.

I know that on this side of the pond you say "draw" for drawer.

But it's still inexcusable in my opinion....
