Yes. I feel your pain. And I give you the common use of "of" instead of "Have". He should of just asked me..etc etc. I drives me more AAAAARRRGGH than anything else for some reason.

I agree they are not the same word, I have been taught with knowledge on strict English grammar for about a dozen year, they are not the same in aspect of grammatical sense. :)

Don't get me started on 'lay' rather than 'lie'. As in, 'I'll just go and lay down'.
