Jeremy Paxman's dangling participles

On University Challenge last night:

"With an average age of 20, let's meet the team."

So does Paxman think that the average age of his TV audience + himself is 20?

Dangling participles are epidemic. I think everyone who cares about them just keeps quiet because they fear that those who don't care won't understand what the problem is.

Even worse, though, thanks to your post I now have an image of Paxman's saggy scrotum.

I think, to be fair to Paxman, that the phrasing probably isn't his. I assume he has a script, doesn't he? What did Bamber Gascoigne say?

I think giving the average age of the teams is a recent thing so I don't think Bamber Gascoigne would have needed to say it.
