I spoketo a memebr of sales staff in a self-proclaimed upmarket pop up shop today about the mis-spelling on one of their signs.

Apparently, after 5 mentions in the 2 months they've been open [disappointing], they check in the Oxford Dictionary and that there are 2 ways of spelling Confectionery.

Um, yes, the right way and the wrong way you noodle.

FAILED.

And I always check when I visit here.

The word 'confectionary', if that's their version, does exist, but it doesn't mean the same as 'confectionery'. You'd be interested in OED sense 4: 'Improperly used for confectionery n., meaning the confectioner's art'.
