I can't hold back any longer. More and more posters on this site keep writing "discrete" when they mean "discreet". Please desist. That is all.

Smile so its okay to blurb out everything so long as you do it without any natural pause. - it is only giving away one secret at a time that it an absolute no no

anklebitersmum · 12/07/2012 11:06

Liking both the sentiment and the name, ditto! :o

ZillionChocolate · 13/07/2012 22:55

Someone on here had a way of remembering the difference between them. It can't be all that good because I've forgotten it, but I do recall that it involved concrete.

I've just complimented a poster on her effortlessly correct use of the word!

EclecticShock · 18/07/2012 22:37

I found put today, DH uses " , and". It's still with me.

plutocrap · 19/07/2012 21:29

Oooh, a proponent of "eats, shoots, and leaves"!

GrimmaTheNome · 19/07/2012 21:40

I have seen a pun involving these. It was a poster for a software product called 'quanta'; the picture was a cartoon of a shifty-looking spy with the caption 'be discrete, use quanta'

GrimmaTheNome · 19/07/2012 21:42

Oh, and of course in similar vein there's the more obvious 'Quantum mechanics do it discretely'.
