If it was we'd all be looking in our pudding bowls with magnifying glasses.

I think this is the phrase, wrongly used, that irritates me the most.

Grrrr on your behalf OP Grin

comfortmewithapples · 13/06/2012 21:56

Where is the proof then?

MirandaGoshawk · 13/06/2012 21:59

How's it wrongly used? (Need examples in order to judge.) Prepares to hoik up pants

Springforward · 13/06/2012 21:59

Drives me nuts too, it is indeed in the eating. This usually pops into my head and out of my mouth at such times.

'The proof of the pudding is in the eating'

YANBU.

Oh - you weren't asking whether you were U, but you're not.

comfortmewithapples · 13/06/2012 22:02

Oh yeah. Blush

comfortmewithapples · 13/06/2012 22:03

Can I have some, anyway? Pudding?

MirandaGoshawk · 13/06/2012 22:03

Ah - OK.

Yes, YANBU.

Springforward - what was that army link all about? Confused

Springforward · 13/06/2012 22:10

It's the only example of "proving/ proof" in the sense of testing that I can ever think of when I hear that phrase, TBH!

HeathRobinson · 13/06/2012 22:13

Ah, missed that bit! Grin

cupidsabsolutepsyche · 14/06/2012 12:14

I want to see that link Springforward but my laptop doesn't seem to like it.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating - I'll do all the pudding-eating to test it if need be!

comfortmewithapples - here, have some pudding too Grin
