The words are 'definitely' and 'weird' and it should be could/should/ would HAVE not 'of'...
Is it really so hard to spell pretty common words correctly? Getting fed up with seeing the above spelt definately, wierd, and would of...
Please come and tell me to let it go and get a life...

I'd love to, but "could of" etc drives me nuts!

Now, could you borrow me a tenner please?

Shakey1500 · 19/05/2012 22:55

I would, but I'm busy having a life.... blatant lie Grin

I agree, especially the "could of" et al.

BabyGiraffes · 19/05/2012 22:55

Argh, only is you remember me to claim it back! ;)

let it go
communication is more important than perfect grammar, spelling and punctuation on an internet forum

it's difficult to spell if you're dyslexic

HugeFurryWishingStool · 19/05/2012 22:58

My favourite (not!) is when it definitely gets so mangled it comes out as "defiantly"!

Don't get me started on "wierd", or even "neice" ffs. You're supposed to be grown adults, these are children's errors. also needs a life

BabyGiraffes · 19/05/2012 22:59

'if' (phone and sausage finger...)
What gets me is that English is not even my first language yet I seem to be obsessed keen on getting things right.

BabyGiraffes · 19/05/2012 23:04

Well, one of my closest friend sends texts full of 'could of' and I let it go but it makes me cringe. No idea how I could bring it up without being rude..

What is it with definitely? So many get it wrong on here.

Lose and loose is the latest that seems to be wrong more than right.

BabyGiraffes · 19/05/2012 23:09

Porky - 'definitely' is actually what made me start this thread because I am now surprised to see it spelt correctly on here

BabyGiraffes · 19/05/2012 23:13

QIelf - I do understand that those with dyslexia would have problems. Bit I don't think about 75% of people posting on mumsnet are dyslexic.

I am dyslexic and definitely and weird throw me every single time as does chose and chosen which I want to spell oo.

Auto correct has a field day with definitely changing my miss spelling into defiantly or definably. I didn't realise it was getting it wrong for agesBlush

startail · 19/05/2012 23:28

I'm also getting old and long sighted and the text is small.

Nanny0gg · 23/05/2012 19:59

If you remember 'finite' in 'definitely' it helps.
