In a supermarket, on the conveyor belt thing at the till, there is a sign instructing you to put your bottles on their sides. Should this sign say-
Lie your bottles this way

Or

Lay your bottles this way

??

Brilliant thank you, that explains a lot. One more question though, do you say- I'm going to have a lay in at the weekend or a lie in?

Lie in, if you mean tou are going to lie down for longer (ie stay in bed).

Lay in might be acceptable if you are referring to getting laid.
