Late night wonderings...
I have just read a crap book which contained the word askance meaning or implying 3 different things:

He looked askance at her - in the context can only mean as far as I can tell 'he looked at her in admiration'
-
She stared at her askance - 'she looked at her in anger'
-
She said in askance - 'she questioned'
It's driving me mad (and has been for a few days now). Are any of these correct? Are they all correct?
Please can someone shed some light on this for me? :)
