Pedants' corner

Come on, confess! Which of you pedants is that insists on making grammatical corrections in pencil on the library books I am reading.

You seem to favour BIG science fiction works. And you are driving me mad! Understand this. The author is in print because people like his work. You are not because, presumably you can't write that well. So regardless of his putative poor grammar, he is a better writer than you. You are very annoying.

Oh, and knowing the plural of 'lacuna' does not make you clever.

Please stop or I will be forced to hunt you down and stab you with your own pencil.

Thankyou.

The few times I've seen this, the corrections have been wrong. Now that's irritating!

OrmIrian · 01/11/2011 20:13

Yes! These were often wrong as well. But more significantly anal and annoying.

I got a library copy of A Clockwork Orange where a superior git had translated all the slang instead of letting people work it out for themselves.

PastGrace · 08/11/2011 16:16

When I was at school people used to correct the grammar on the graffiti in the loos Grin

OneHandFlapping · 13/11/2011 10:44

I can understand the sentiment, but my "don't write on library books" training supecedes my pedantry.

OneHandFlapping · 13/11/2011 10:44

supecedes supercedes
