How many dots?

...

I get that

What if I am writing

...?

with a question mark?

Does the question mark take the place of one of the dots, or is it three-dots-then-a-question-mark?

I have heard - and I'm not sure how accurate this is, that if you want to end with a full stop, you put three dots and then the full stop. In that case, ...? would be correct.

I got all excited by the title, thinking I knew the answer to this one, and then you made it more complicated with the question mark thing! I would go for ...? because if the three dots indicate omission, you would still need them to indicate that even with a question mark on the end.

The three dots are called an ellipsis, therefore you wouldn't remove one.
