incorrect use of apostrophes on an ELC jigsaw

I'm exasperated and surprised to see the following round the edge of the new jigsaw I bought my 3 year old son:

"What can you see on the crocodile's back" referring to the birds on the the TWO crocodiles

and

"What are the giraffe's doing?"

ARGHH!

Complain!

Yes we have this one too - I couldn't believe it. I haven't got round to complaining yet but I must.

Is it back or backs for the crocodiles? Giraffe's is appalling.

Yes I've complained via the telephone number on the ELC website and the person I spoke to said they would contact head office about it. I did feel a bit pedantic mid-way through the call!

It is "back" not "backs" for the crocodiles, so perhaps I was being hasty there, however the picture has two crocodiles in it, so wrong for another reason.

Isn't it "crocodiles' backs"? There are two crocodiles and therefore two backs surely?

Are the birds on both the crocodiles? If they're only on one then it's right.

I agree about complaining though; I would. Without anal particular people like us the poor old apostrophe won't know if it's Arthur or Martha in the not too distant future .

and return the jigsaw.

if the birds are on both crocodiles, then it's "the crocodiles' backs"
in this instance, if there was something else on the other corcodile, then it would be okay (but how would you know which croc it meant?)
