So today David Cameron "adopted a more 'emollient' tone" in his speech about the police...

Confused Was he trying to moisturise them? Perhaps it's part of a plan to make sure everyone's skin is as smooth and shiny as his?

I think 'twas the latter re oiling up against troubled waters, but it did make me giggle!

How about this as an alternative: "David Cameron moistened his tone"
