I don't even understand how it could happen that people think "alot" is a word.

alright is fine, as it's a contraction of all right.

as is almost = all most
already = all ready

I used to be a journalist and have never forgotten a colleague (a sub editor no less) asking me "is 'abit' one word, the same as 'alot'?"

My Grandma has a magnet on her fridge that reads "I like chocalot alot". I mean, what the frig?

It's a great diet aid. I can't look at the fridge without being reduced to tears. If I can't see it, I can't eat it.

Oh and she's a diabetic so shouldn't be liking 'chocalot', alot or otherwise.

My old English teacher went so completely mental every time anyone did this...
