Should it be "forward" without the 's' ?!

Good question OP. I have done a google search and all the sites I have found state that neither is actually incorrect, one compares to 'backward' and 'backwards' which again are interchangeable!

Interesting...

Some sub-editor at the DM obviously had his/her opinion and changed the original!
