"Village faces less mobile library visits"

(From the Hampshire Chronicle website.)

I can just about cope with the obvious error, but my mind is trying to conjure up a mental image. A library vehicle with square wheels? Or maybe the villagers will be required to select their books very slowly?

It's up there with "This door is alarmed" or, my personal fave, seen on a council van, "Pull Handel to open"!

surely less mobile library just means that it will be a half-size one.

Thanks for even more mental images. Now I'm imagining a dalliance with a classical composer in a vehicle suitable only for hobbits. Grin

"This door is alarmed".

That's up there with "press button for automatic door".

If the door is "automatic", what's the fekin button for?

I've worked in a hospital where there was that kind of system. Sometimes it was easier to use brute force to open the doors rather than spend time figuring out where the button was.

At the show in Newcastle Arena last night, they had signs saying, "Litter please". No arrows, no punctuation. Are we supposed to put in in the nearby bin or is this an open invitation to chuck it around?!
