Of and Off

Has anyone else noticed lately the tendency for people to write 'of' when they mean 'off'? I keep seeing it, especially on FB (serves me right I suppose!) and it's driving me mad. Can they not be bothered with that pesky extra letter?? .

Don't get me going on 'off of' either.

'Off of'. Urgh. Shudder. And breathe. I can't stand it, they talk about 'getting of the bus', going 'of to the shops'.
