Actually while all you pronunciators Xmas Grinare here, I've always wondered how you pronounce the names Ghislaine and *Ashling

Cheers.

ghislaine is the Germanic form of my name I think and I have been told it's either pronounced zs-is-lane (the zs as in Zsa Zsa Gabor) or Giz-Lane (with a hard G)

headfairy · 13/12/2010 20:16

Ghislaine

ChristmasTrulyReigns · 13/12/2010 20:30

Thanks headfairy for the link - DD1 and I have just been having great fun on it!

But I'm bow wondering what it's the German version of? Mary?

OP posts:
ChristmasTrulyReigns · 13/12/2010 20:30

headfairy · 13/12/2010 20:51

I'm not 100% sure it's the German version of my name, but it's a version of my name - Gisele.

takingchances · 15/12/2010 16:46

Ashling is pronounced exactly as it is spelled. Ash-ling. It can also be spelled Aisling, and it is still pronounced the same way.

Butterbur · 16/12/2010 15:39

I had a French penfriend called Ghislaine. It was ponounced Zheez len.

MissAnthropy · 16/12/2010 15:41

My rl friend is Aisling. She pronounces it Ashleen. Confused She's Irish.

PuppyMonkey · 16/12/2010 15:45

I though Ash-leen (am irish)

PortlyBlackSantaUpAChimney · 16/12/2010 15:47

Giclee - as in a print...how do you pronounce that? I would be ever-so-grateful if someone knew???

MissAnthropy · 16/12/2010 15:47

Google suggests both are used. I'm sure one is the original but both have been used for a long time.

MissAnthropy · 16/12/2010 15:49

zhicklay.

Sort of

PortlyBlackSantaUpAChimney · 16/12/2010 15:53

Oooh thanks MissA - i thought it might be something like that but didn't want to look an arse if it was Gicklee Xmas Grin

asseenontv · 03/01/2011 23:51
