I've just spent a happy hour lying snuggled under a warm duvet with ds, listening to Lynn Truss's 'Cutting A Dash' and having jolly little pedantic giggles to ourselves Grin.

While listening to the section on semi-colons, ds told me about a time when he 'had to' correct a teacher in Y2 who was talking the class through an introduction to semi-colons. Ds pointed out "Er, Miss, I think you've got that the wrong way around." Sure enough, she had written it on the whiteboard with the comma at the top and the full stop on the bottom. She'd insisted she had it right till the teaching assistant told her that, actually, the little tike was right.

He's a big fan of Pedants' Corner and wanted you all to know Grin.

A pretty crap one, Euphemia, as it turned out.

It couldn't have any later than Y3 because he changed schools at the start of Y4, but he's convinced it was Y2 that this happened because of the staff involved.

No - surely not! I'm a teacher and that makes me feel really quite terrible on behalf of the whole profession.
