I've just spent a happy hour lying snuggled under a warm duvet with ds, listening to Lynn Truss's 'Cutting A Dash' and having jolly little pedantic giggles to ourselves

While listening to the section on semi-colons, ds told me about a time when he 'had to' correct a teacher in Y2 who was talking the class through an introduction to semi-colons. Ds pointed out "Er, Miss, I think you've got that the wrong way around." Sure enough, she had written it on the whiteboard with the comma at the top and the full stop on the bottom. She'd insisted she had it right till the teaching assistant told her that, actually, the little tike was right.
