Letter from the school [sigh]

DS has only just started nursery this week and already I am despondent.

We got a letter from the school, you know the sort of thing:

"Dear Parent

Welcome back blah blah

I had the pleasure of meeting the pupils yesterday for my first day at school blah blah

I enjoyed meeting some of you at the school gate blah blah

I look forward to working with your children etc etc blah

Yours sincerely

Joanne Bloggs"

Absolutely nowhere does it mention who Joanne Bloggs is. I happen to know that the head teacher retired last session, and so am assuming that this letter is from the new one, but nowhere in it does she mention what her role is or who the hell she is. She could be the new dinner lady for all I know.

What, and get a black mark against DS's name 2 years before he starts Primary school?! Shock Grin

I might casually ask one of the nursery assistants ...

Is it not the teacher?

ThatDamnDog · 24/08/2010 11:55

Nope, I know all the nursery staff (they didn't make such a hash of introducing themselves!). I might phone the office ... I know it's pedantic but really, talk about creating a first impression!

Isn't 'yours sincerely' only for use when you have addressed the recipient of the latter by name?

Or is that just something outdated and silly that I was taught at school?
