Ha ha very good! DS got his pre-school report this week and his key worker put apostophes in verbs, e.g. 'DS know's his numbers from 1 to 10'. I'll be mentally shooting her next time I see her...

It was funny and yes it did make me think of MN too!

David Mitchell aka My Second Husband is wonderful. And he just gets better.

Thanks for the link UQD. Great clip.

I think we should adopt that policy for anyone who says 'haitch'. Quite reasonable, IMHO.

Surely an acronym is a word formed from the initial letters of other words, eg NATO.

So David Mitchell was also wrong to call HHH an ancronym.

I was sure that was the reason he shot the guy, before he explained.

oliviacrumble · 20/07/2010 08:31

Acronym, not ancronym .

singsinthebath · 20/07/2010 12:31

olivia crumble I wondered the same thing when I saw the clip. But if you look here - definition 3, it seems that acronyms can be a set of initials, like TNT or IBM. For clarity, maybe David should have said initialism, but that might have interrupted the flow somewhat!
