Yesterday the Yr 6 leavers chose a Beach Party theme for their leavers do - last minute, no problem

We need as many cheap and cheerful ideas to make it special for them please.

Have got a shed/hut on playground that we are going to turn into a beach hut/bar and have a barbie sorted so far

Over to you creative ladies

flower type hawian garlands? grass skirts?

sandpit with buckets and spades?

fruity cocktail in a big punch bowl?

ummmmm. can they wear bathers and have a garden sprinkler out after food?

shufflebum · 09/07/2010 10:12

Deck chairs, ice lollies and ice cream cones, sprinkle all food with a little bit of sand for that authentic gritty on the beach type of feeling.

feetheart · 09/07/2010 10:19

Sprinkler - excellent

Also sand in food an absolute must

Thanks so far, keep them coming.

how about little sandcastle flags in the sandwiches, and jelly in tiny sandcastle moulds?

blow up beachballs, rubber rings, lilos etc...

wordsearches with a seaside theme? fish and chips in newspaper? shells? pin the tail on the donkey... in fact, donkey rides???

MaryBS · 09/07/2010 10:28

Get some builders sand - its cheaper than play sand.

How about that fishing game where you have to catch magnetic fish, only do it in a bucket of water?

Fly kites? beach tennis? Volleyball? Sandcastle making competition?

Get a surfboard and have them do their best poses for the camera? Use a digital camera and PC/printer, you could print them off and they could vote for the most realistic pose!

feetheart · 09/07/2010 10:29

Hmmmm, donkeys. Very tempted but feel it may tip caretaker over the edge

limbo dancing?

Idontknowhowtohelpher · 09/07/2010 15:43

sorry, looks like I killed the thread! What about asking for donations of tropical fruit and making smoothies?

liliputlady · 09/07/2010 20:23

Children to provide a few paddling pools.

Anyone got a puppet theatre so that a few of the children can put on a Punch and Judy show.

Summery beachy loud music - Club Tropicana, Hot Hot Hot etc

rainbowfizz · 09/07/2010 20:27

Builders sand stains horrendously!

feetheart · 09/07/2010 21:33

Don't think you killed the thread, think everyone too hot to care down south

Have the evening crowd got any ideas?

What about a pirate treasure hunt? You could make a fake beach by having your local builders merchant deliver some sand. Hide some clues and markers around your beach and lead everyone to find some hidden treasure. You can get kits on line if you have never organised a treasure hunt before try this link:
