DS2 is obviously a bit of a ladies' man and has come home from school with no less than 3 invitations to girls' parties.

What shall I get them? I can team up with another mum of boys to split the cost of something a bit more expensive.

Don't worry about expensive stuff. My DD (5) perfect present would be a selection of hair bobbles/clips/jewellery (think Claire's or currently lovely childrens' jewellery in Sainsbury's) preferrably in a little bag/box.

Alternatively, if you balk at the girliness of this, similar style but prit stick/ scissors/ stickers any random art stuff in a pencil case.

DD and all of her frined don't seem to be bale to get enough of this sort of stuff.

When DD had her fifth birthday, a very nice little boy in her class (an only child) got her a little transparent suitcase full of toy make-up and jewellery. A big hit!

Recent stuff my DD has loved are:

Mr Grasshead £4.95

butterfly garden £11.99

she loves this, or indeed any other chicken socks books

pretty much anything from yellow moon

Other favourite 5th birthday presents - a Hello Kitty money box, a Hello Kitty alarm clock, a Hello Kitty notebook, a Hello Kitty back pack

Our Tesco are doing those little toy hamsters for £6. (Full price was £10)

Sainsbos have the Littlest Pet shop stuff on offer

(Ccan you tell I have a DD who loves all this stuff).

Cars, trains, books.

But second the stationery and anything 'beauty' orientated.

Thanks all.

Suggestions from our end have been footballs guns and a rocket

my dd will be 5 in sept and loves everything pink and sparkly

dressing up stuff always goes down well, or handbags, little purses bead neckalaces.

she likes doing hama beads too and painting, and baking.
