ideas for a 5th birthday

dd will be 5 in sept (and starting school)

last year she had a hall party with friends from nursery, traditional games and cake decorating. Would this type of thing still be suitable?

Also, what about a present for a 5 year old. she hasnt asked for anything and our house is full of pink stuff and dolls. DH had suggested a DS, but I dont really know ,much about them.

hee hee i took your 'DS' to mean a son at first! Party sounds lovely. Or what about a puppet show type thing? Present...an easel? Girls tend to love to 'play schools' at that age.

she already has an easel and seeing the price of a ds i tink we will wait til she is actively asking for one. Wonder about a cheaper alternative eg a leap pad? i think thats what they are called.

we did mention to her having a party at home, cue many tears as "I want my party in the hole again" (she means hall)

Scooter?
Lot of the girls in DD's class have been getting the maxi micro scooter thing for their birthdays.
Again, quite epensive, but D has had hers since Xmas and uses it loads

oooh scooter looks good. She isnt really a very confident child physically IYSWIM, she seems really scared of her bike which we got her last year, wonder if the scooter may be better. Or it may end up next to the bike in the shed

also looked online and saw that v tech do little laptop things, anyone got one of these?
