Ideas for food for a Science party please

I don't normally go all out with theming for parties, even down to having just plain tableclothes. But DD is having a science party this year for her 9th birthday which means I can make it a bit more exciting food-wise.

I've had a look on the internet but they all seem to be obsessed with science being mad and ghoulish. DH is a science teacher and very opinionated about science being accessible to all, not mad and normal people can do it too!

ice cream with popping candy?

fairy cakes with icing and m and ms left a day so that all the colours come out

fizzy drinks with blueberries in so that the keep floating to the top and sinking again

Something with apples (to commemorate Isaac newton)?

Scientific Celery - Cut celery stalks and set them in glasses of water tinted with food coloring. Let the celery stalks soak up the colored water. Then remove them from the glasses, and serve with cream cheese or peanut butter.

Put a white sheet or tablecloth on the table and fill test tubes with sprinkles, colored sugar strands, silver balls,. Get plain biscuits and some white cicng and let them decorate them.

Fab ideas thanks. I can get hold of a candyfloss machine and/or make honeycomb, though am a bit wary of the sugar rush!!
