...that is not crappy sweets or plastic tat?

DD would really like a pinata for 4th birthday party, but I'm at a complete loss at what to fill it with that won't just be a total waste?

don't 4 year olds love sweeties and plastic tat though ?

Bingtata · 11/06/2010 21:30

I know.....but it just feels wrong....

I was hoping there might be a middle ground, but there really isn't is there?

Hmm, non plastic tat that we looked at for party bags included:

balloons, pencils/rubbers/small stationery items, packets of seeds, small board books (talking very small!), stickers, wooden dice, packets of raisins, magnets, bath toys

Any of those do?

Bingtata · 11/06/2010 21:39

Ah yes, I could do some of those!

I put chocolate coins in ours as it was a pirate party. Can you link it to your child's likes?

brimfull · 12/06/2010 20:17

I forgot to put ANYTHING in ds's pinata ..I presumed it was already filled as I had paid £10 for a bit of cardboard .

They spent ages bashing the shit out of it only to find it empty

Just fill it with sweets..don't try to be healthy, it's a party.

DarrellRivers · 12/06/2010 20:19

oh my goodness ggirl
Were they disappointed?

I agree, go with sweets
Give up at this point, sweets are the only way

Goober · 12/06/2010 20:19

niiice

DarrellRivers · 12/06/2010 20:59

Goober, you seem of the school of slime
Too many childhood quiz games , when you would sit in a glass tube and if you could the question wrong, then you would get slimed, methinks

Bingtata · 12/06/2010 21:15

Lol, just looked back to see my thread suddenly have tons of replies. Slime, worms, custard, rice pudding, bugs, even empty () would all appeal to my sense of humour. Cold rice pudding is actually my DD's favourite, so you could be onto something there....

I have decided to put sweets and stickers in it, I'm clearly being much to precious.....

That's what is great about MN
Had my 5 yo DS's party this afternoon and am so so so glad it is over
I made the pinata which was great fun and quite therapeutic and I missed the smashing but I believe it was quite reminiscent of 'Lord of the Flies'
