Basically someone I know is getting married.

Anyway I dont really know them THAT well, but we have the same circle of friends. I have been invited to the evening reception, but not the wedding (I have only actually met the bride 5 times, the husband once briefly).

So my question is: Do I buy a wedding gift? It wouldnt be anything too lavish or expensive, but something small and thoughtful. I do intend on going to the evening reception. I would just like to know what the ettiquette is.

Thanks

I would buy something small if it were me.

Love your name btw.

I don't know what the etiquette is but personally I buy a present if invited to the evening do. If going to the "main" do I would buy a larger present.

Yes, good idea re something small and thoughtful. I would probably spend around £10-£25 depending on financial circumstances, plus a nice card.

Thanks.

I will do that then. A nice card and a token gift. Now just to think of the gift to get. A nice Picture frame has just popped in my mind.

If I didn't know the couple well (I am not v confident with buying gifts) I would ask a closer friend for advice. e.g. if I knew they wanted John Lewis gift vouchers or whatever then I would do that.
