Having 80's themed birthday party at my house

I'm 42 in June and usually try to have a night out or get together for my birthday as do my friends when it's their's. I had a bash at home on my 40th but had thought of having an 80's party then. So this year I've decided to do it. Those who are coming are keen on dressing up, there'll be some dcs there too, probably around 10 of them.

I'm trying to think of food. Up to now have thought of the cocktail sticks. Any ideas are appreciated. I've drawn a blank

I've got loads of music so am ok on that score. Plus a lot of my friends are similar age to me so they have music too. People have offered to help which is nice Dp is a great cook too. I'm going to make a load of sangria, not exactly in theme but I love it

Lots of nouvelle cuisine (ie tiny portions) on square black plates?

I was thinking about this and I recall Tex/Mex being very big in the 80s. Much easier for mass catering too!

In fact, didn't TGIs open in the UK in the 80s? That gives you carte blanche to dish up "loaded potato skins"!

prawn cocktail
black forest gateaux
microwave chips!
