Karaoke party for dd's 11th birthday party

Dd is hoping for a karaoke party for her 11th bday party in a couple of months, so we're going to have a look at Karaoke Me this week-end. I think their biggest room holds 14 children.

Now karaoke is my idea of hell, but to dd it's fun. It's going to be all girls.

I am after any tips to make sure they all have a great time, don't get bored, don't feel self-conscious, are fair about sharing the singing, etc....

Thanks

We have used the ps2 singstar for parties but that has been smaller groups, but also used it for a family night for a fundraiser for scouts.

For the scouts we handed out raffle tickets and pulled those out of a hat, so that everyone had a go.
Could you have someone doing nails/hair/makeup while they are not singing.

Thanks bruffin, like your ideas of raffle tickets and doing their nails. We will order food and 'cocktails' as well.

Any ideas re. getting them to dance? Without me and dh embarassing dd more than we normally do?

I don't think getting them to dance will be a problem. Girls are normally happy to get up and start dancing as long as the music is suitable (chart cds etc), is loud enough and it's dark enough! Could you get some lights so it's like a disco? Some dancing/games should warm them up so they don't feel so self conscious too.
