Please help me...my husband turns 40 in two weeks time and apart from organising a dinner for a few family and friends, I've little else planned. I had always planned a luxury weekend away in Barcelona or Rome but as I'm currently 4.5 months pregnant we knocked that on the head as the idea of strolling around cobbled streets and piazzas without the luxury of being able to stop for a glass of wine here and a gin and tonic there just didn't appeal (I know he could still drink, but I'm v selfish!). Anyway, i'd like to get him something a bit special but can't really think of what. He doesn't really do jewellery, loves sport, music, gadgets and cooking - any fab ideas? I'd love you to share them with me! THANKS SO MUCH....

what about a Virgin Experience Days or Red Letter Days?

how about booking him a day with a top chef? I know that Nick Nairn does that up here in Scotland, Raymond Blanc does it too and i think Marco Pierre White did do it but not sure if he still does.

Failing that how about a day at a local race track? driving a formula 3 car or a lambourghini or something like that....?

I would also go with the day out theme - I always thought I would go with a driving theme thing for my hubby's 40th and totally agree with you on the drinking thing - if I can't get drunk on their bday then neither can they!

sounds as though he likes a drink. i got dh a really nice decanter (you could get an engraving if that's your style), a pair of wine glasses & a vv good bottle of wine.

you can do similar on a whiskey theme as well.

do you want something to do, or something to keep?
