40th birthday ideas

Hi, I'm having a fancy dress party for my 40th - just wondered if anyone had any theme ideas? Really don't want to do 70's/80's. So far I have:

Elvis (I like, but don't fancy playing elvis music all night)
Famous people from last 40 years
Heaven and Hell

Hoping that someone has a better imagination than me!!!

We did book, film or music for dp's 40th.

I was too down with work to have a party for my 40th but if I had, we were going to do Heroes and Villains or Shakespeare.

Going to one in an few weeks time and my friend is having World Cup theme - Wags and Footballers - i.e. ladies can glam it up to extremes and men can just wear suits or football shirts.

Just an idea.

Hawaian/beach party
School uniform

You could do a colour theme, or a 'something beginning with letter of choice' theme. Or dead pop stars. Or Hollywood Legends..or Famous Couples.
