Posh Drinks

Can anyone recommend some recipes for different drinks presentation, not quite cocktails but a bit posher than a glass of vodka and orange, to make it a bit more 'lively'?

I have vague recollection of a Schweppes ad where they chop fruit/ice up and make a normal drink look fab! - An orange/lime swirl thangy?

All I have so far is champagne/sparkley wine with a quarter of a strawberry perched on edge of glass.

Pimms

Thanks J, Pimms natch! But how to make it look good?! Tall glass, mixed fruit and ice?

Make it in huge jugs with fruit in, then it can just be poured into plain glasses but looks lovely. Minimum fuss but still looks great

Mmmmm I think I want a Pimms. I think it's nice just with cucumber, maybe a bit of mint, I'm not mad on lots of fruit in it, but just the green stuff will look nice.

Pimms have a winter special now which you mix I think with warm apple juice - don't fancy it myself but would certainly be a pretty colour.

For colour I also love the old Campari and orange juice, a really tart fresh orange juice.

Bellini - just use Prosecco and Peach Juice.

I think sometimes a load of fruit gets in the way - there are lots of drinks which are nice with the rim of the glass dipped in salt - nice with limey/lemony things - or sugar, that'll also look as if you've put a bit more thought into it than just hauling the Smirnoff out of the laundry basket or wherever you stash it, and topping it up with frootshoot.

(That could actually be a passable drink...)

ooh no , don't like cucumber.
We usually do apple and mint and on occasion raspberries for additional colour.

Having said all of that, after the first jug is finished I rarely care what it looks like

Oh I'd love to have a party and be stocking up with delicious drinks. Dream life: am 2 stone lighter with gorgeous new dress and slinky hair, house is spotless, people are arriving soon.

Summer Pimms = oranges, lemon and apple, bit of mint - no to cucumber imho.

Winter Pimms = winter pimms, ginger beer, oranges

Is it margarita where you have the salty limey glass? If yes - yum to that.

I have a bit of a soft spot for tequila too - sunrise = tequila, orange juice and grenadine so it goes all layered. Not at all classy but it tastes nice!

And yes to Bellini too.
