Party for 7/ 8 year olds. Twin boy & girl, Not soft play.

Usually I do separate parties for my dts, one for each batch of friends, one more boyish, one more girlish, though boys and girls come to both. This year I want to give a joint party which pleases both.

I have a middlesized house but the garden will be too muddy to use properly in March, any ideas for GAMES/THEMES for a home based party for about 12 children? I'm thinking musical games, memory game, treasure hunt, charades..Only one other adult helper (dh)

Last year did Indiana Jones style party for the ds2, and softplay for dd

DS went to a girl/boy twins (age 8) party recently and the mum had done it like a school fair.
So, pick a lolly
Throw beanbag into hoop
Throw a dice and open the relevant numbered box.
Name the teddy

At the beginning of the party each child decorated a paper bag (good for when everyone arrived)

The mum then gave each child a bag of 1 pences and each game cost one pence.
They won either little prizes (eg pencils, rubbers, sweets, bubbles etc.) or a piece of paper with token written on it.
The children collected the token peices of paper and counted them at the end to see who had the most. The winner then got to choose from the lucky dip at the end of the party first.

It was an excellent party and all the children were very well behaved

I love Blame's idea - that would be such a hit with the children.

Is it late March? Close enough to easter to get away with an Easter theme with crafts, egg hunt and Easter games?

A jungle theme is quite unisex and lends itself well to decorations, music, cake and games. Could do a safri style treaure-hunt, jungle juice to drink, safari gear memory game, pin the tail on the monkey, show a clip of "Tarzan" and have a quiz about it etc etc.
