so my daughter has been invited to 6th birthday party next weekend and on the invite it says not to bring presents... but I feel a bit mean not taking a present?! what do other people think and would you take a present????

If thats what it says then don't take a present!

Its what I would write on invitations if I were to do a party for DD, and I would really mean it.

Get your DD to make a beautiful card and give that.

It's probably because it's a big party and they don't want 30 presents so soon after christmas. Some people will still take something, some people won't, so whatever you want to do will be fine.

Could your dd make her something? Like a bead bracelet or similar, if you have kits for that kind of thing?

thanks... I think I will get DD to make a hama bead thingy and pop that in the card... cheers! x

Yes, something tiny would surely be fine, especially if your DD makes it.

The other thing I have done when asked 'no presents' is put a couple of packets of seeds inside the card. Wild flower mix, sunflowers, or cress are always a hit with children.

But I do think it's MEAN!! One of the joys of a party is going home with a binbag full of unsuitable plastic junk!

sounds peculiar.
how about money in the card?
seems a shame for the birthdaychild.
