Im having a party at home for my 5 year old DS's 5th birthday...everyone thinks Im totally bonkers but Im hoping it will be fun!

Its from 4-6pm on his birthday but obviously need things to do to fill up the time and be fun!

Ive sorted out pass the parcel x2 as DS has lots of friends who are girls so thought we'd do 1 at the beginning an another after food so have done a girls one and a boys one and DH will be on strict instructions to make sure the music stops in the right place...have got a Ben 10 annual for the boys and a Disney Princees one for the girls for the bargain price of 99p so thought that would be a nice pass the parcel pressie!

Am also doing a version of pin the tail on the donkey and musical statues cause I thought musical bumps with 10 5 year olds would be a bit much!

Also thought of balloon volleyball where they are split in teams and they have to keep the balloon up...should wear them out a bit!! And lots of dancing etc and obviously the food will take some of the time up but am a bit worried in case they get bored and need some other ideas!

Have got a fairly largish lounge if I move sofas back but not got tons of room and wouldn't be able to go outside in the dark at that time of night I don't think unless they have torches for a treasure hunt!

So any other suggestions would be very welcome!

Hi,I just had a party at my house for my daughter's party and got some great party game ideas from a website called The Present Club, hope this helps!

For our 5-year-old DD's party we did gingerbread men decorating, mask/frame decorating (Baker Ross have some fab things), musical statues, dead lions, badge making, 2x pass the parcel and eating!

There were a mixture of boys and girls and I used the 'making/decorating' activities at the beginning and end so everyone did them at their own pace but were occupied whilst the others arrived/were collected. The decorated items were then used as the contents of the party bags.

Why not do a treasure hunt. It would add to the excitement if you do it with torches. You can buy a kit from www.lelloandmonkey.co.uk

Have fun!

Sleeping lions and make funny noises and threaten to tickle and kiss them to make them move. When they move you can start all over again until they are all perfectly still and then give them ALL a haribo so they all 'win'. Good quiet one for after tea. Musical bumps is good - just don't look when you turn the music off so you don't see who 'wins' - 5 year olds will play along with this for quite a while.

If you have a tape of actions songs - hokey kokey, heads should knees and toes etc - always goes down well.

Good Luck!

Thansk all for the great suggestions-Im getting quite excited about it now! Handed out the invitations yesterday and after speaking to the parents it seems the children are all excited about going to a "proper party"...Just need it to live up to expectations now lol!

Love the smartie on the tongue idea...We used to do that with fruit pastilles when I was little and see how long we could last without chewing it! Have got a huge box of sweets/lollies etc for prizes so that should be ok. Can see the balloon popping game being a hit as well and we've got loads and loads of balloons!

Ive obviously led a sheltered life cause had no idea what sleeping lions were so had to google it would you believe!!

Off to have a look at the treasure hunt as well...torches in the dark would be fab as long as its not raining!
