bumping this in a blatant hi-jacking attempt cause I'm in the same boat re dh's fortieth. I need things that can sit on a table buffet style for the better part of a hot afternoon (inside) without going foosty. Spod - how did your party go? Has it happened yet?

how about quiche, cold fried chicken, potato salad, coleslaw, feta salad, smoked salmon and fruit platter ( melon pineapple etc?

Thanks super1971 and fishfinger. Unfortunately have no waitrose in Edinburgh and they don't deliver here - otherwise that would be right up my alley! I can't produce another marks and spencers spread as per usual - I've got to look like I've at least made some kind of effort for a change!
