Do you hate it when your kids gets a balloon to take home from a party??

My dad fetched DS today from a birthday party and was grumbling about this helium balloon blowing around the car whilst he was trying to drive all the way home. As a non-driver I'd never really thought about them being irritating. I was going to give them out at the halloween party I am throwing, but I'm thinking maybe not now.

or you spend the whole journey screeching about someone letting one go

no, I tell them to keep hold of it - and they do as they like having them and they know I'd take them away if they let them float round the car. If I couldn't rely on them to keep hold I'd put the balloon in the boot until we got home.

I always put them in the boot -not so much to do with the visibility but more to do with being petrified it will pop whilst I'm driving.

It's not as bad as when you are out shopping and some bright spark gives one to your dcs and you have to tie it to the buggy and it gets in the way and bops you on the head.

On holiday this year on our way to a day out on the beach we walked past a fete and MIL had the bright idea of buying balloons for dcs - needless to say having struggled with the damn things on the ferry they burst in the sunshine and I had to spend ages trying to find all the bits of rubber on the beach so as not to choke the wildlife

I tie them to the back of the front seat head rest so they don't fly around the car like a possessed 'thing'! I don't mind them but get fed up when they turn into this sad, shrivelled thing by the end of the week.

I actually quite like them but mine are older and we hardly ever get them now. Kids love them I think.

They do indeed Foxinsocks. Balloons make children very happy.
Though ds is currently having a tantrum because he wants to take the balloon dd got at a party today to bed with him.

Ah my dad has a people carrier so no boot. Would tying them to the door handle work?

ah let him Kathy. Although that might mean dd coming to bed with him too. Mine always took them to bed and then looked mortified in the morning when the helium wasn't so helium like anymore and they had dropped and fallen to the ground.

Once, in the middle of the night, I woke up screaming my lungs out. Woke up dh, the neighbours, the kids it was so loud. I thought someone had walked into the bedroom.

but it was a Thomas helium balloon that had roamed in the night and just floated into the bedroom

Hmmm most of the children coming to the halloween party are too old for car seats now.

You are so right Kathy. I can't drive and the last thing I need is to have a sodding helium balloon on the bus.

I don't mind at parties it is par for the course.
